i understand your concern anon, but their age gap is not sixteen years, it’s only eight (when they first met ren was eight and haru’s gonna be seventeen). i get that many people have an issue with the age gap, but it’s not even that huge (my grandpa was fifteen years older than my grandma and it wasn’t a big deal?) and remember that haru wasn’t interested in ren that way when they first met: he thought ren was just a brat (because he really was) but he cared for him in his usual doting, brotherly self. ren was sixteen when things between him and haru became way more than brotherly (and there wasn’t even any sex involved). their relationship grew and developed over the chapters, which means it wasn’t romantic and sexual right from the start.
